Travel: deprecated destinations for pregnant women

TIP is a list of areas of the world not recommended for pregnant women. Important information to avoid health problems for both mother and baby.

• In general, the regions do not have adequate medical facilities and where hygiene is questionable.

• Regions where yellow fever is endemic (when the woman is not vaccinated): this concerns virtually all of sub-Saharan Africa, and large parts of South America (including Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam, Colombia, Panama, Paraguay, large areas of Peru and Bolivia).

• The regions where malaria (malaria) and certainly it is a resistant form: it concerns large parts of sub-Saharan Africa, South America, India and the Southeast Asia. The problem is that preventive medicines against malaria are cons-indicated for pregnant women. Therefore they run a much higher risk of contracting the disease, with consequences for their health and development of their baby. Precautions also apply to repellents (mosquito) to DEET.

• The areas located at an altitude of over 2,500 meters. The depletion of oxygen in air is likely to cause excessive physical fatigue.
